I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you next year! :)
One of my goals this year is to incorporate more STEM activities into the classroom. The kindergarteners first challenge was to build a gingerbread house out of toothpicks, gum drops and marshmallows. They had to make sure a certain gingerbread man could fit in their house. The students were so creative and did an awesome job. They figured out what worked and what they needed to fix on their house. We will do more activities like this throughout the year! This year in Kindergarten, we are following an Advent Calendar to spread kindness to others. We have made cards for the residents at the nursing home, cards for our libraian, and we have even helped out Mr. Blowers and cleaned up the floor for him. We got to wear our St. Nicholas hats when delivering cards this week! It has been a great reminder of what Christmas is truely about. We love spreading joy to others and we hope to continue more good deeds this year.
The students were able to celebrate their very own Thanksgiving in school. In the morning, we made pudding for our pies and at the end of the day, we were able to eat our own pies. Before we ate, we said a prayer and went around and said what we were thankful for. I am very thankful for all my students and their families! I'm so blessed to work at St. Mary's and know each and every one of you! |
