We would like to wish everyone a Happy Halloween and All Saints Day! The kindergarteners had a great time dressing up as a Saint for school. It was so neat to see the different Saint costumes and we enjoyed learning a little more about each of them. We ended our day with a celebration where we played games and enjoyed a delicious snack. Thank you to our room Mom's for planning it!
The kindergarteners would like to wish both the volleyball and football teams at Aquinas good luck as they head into districts. We also would like to congratulate both the cross country and softball teams for such a successful season! We made posters for the volleyball girls this week to cheer them on. I coached volleyball the last couple of years at Aquinas so their team is close to my heart and they always enjoy getting pictures from the kindergarteners.
Go Monarchs! The kindergarteners had fun learning all about their 5 senses! We used our eyes to guess mystery pictures on the Smartboard. We used our nose to smell a variety of scents like coffee, cinnamon, and soap. We also used our hands to touch mystery objects and guess what they were. It was a fun week and we ended our unit by making popcorn. We were able to use all five senses during the activity which was exciting for them! Below is a picture of their reaction to the popcorn popping! :)
We had a blast visiting Stara's Farm! The students were able to take a hayrack ride to the field where they picked out their very own pumpkin. They even got treated to a cupcake after finding their pumpkin. We would like to thank the Stara family for letting us come to their farm and for always treating us so nicely! It was a beautiful day and we were blessed to spend it with each other!
The kindergarteners love our brain breaks we do in school. It is a way for them to get up and move around before doing an activity. Movement helps us learn more by waking our brains up. Kindergartners are meant to move and need breaks throughout the day. We do brain breaks by using GoNoodle (a website) or we might even play 'Mrs. Smith says.' I have learned the importance of movement throughout my master's classes and know brain breaks help make learning fun each day! Below are the students doing a little yoga with one of the GoNoodle videos!
Our classroom is starting to look a little more like Fall! We had fun decorating our room for the new season and month. The students each made a pumpkin for our own classroom pumpkin patch and we created a scarecrow for the hallway. There are even fall themed centers for the students to work on. It will be a great season! |
